Bright and early Saturday morning, UQ Torrents and Get Phunk meet up to form a convoy for the journey to Goldie.

Its sad to hear that Angie won't be cheering with us for at least a year. Angie tore the cartilidge in her shoulder and will need surgery for the tear.

Torrents News Update

Cheer Comp

The competition goes from the Sat 30th of June to Sun 1st of July, with the workshop on Mon 2nd of July.

Get Phunk is performing in the dance competition on the Saturday, and the Torrents (with Get Phunk) are entering the cheer competition on Sunday.

Registration costs is $82.50 for each member. Please bring it in an envelop to the next training session. Don't forget to write your name on it too. We'll need to do this ASAP since we've already missed the registration deadline.

Mirjana is in the process of getting shoes for everyone. They're currently negotiating getting size 6's in. Shoes will cost $38 each. Please bring shoe money to Mirijana as soon as you can, so she doesn't have a huge credit card debit to carry around.

Fitness Training
Since the recreational class is over we will now train at the Athletics track from 6.30pm on Mondays. A few of us are going to meet on Wednesdays 6pm in St Lucia for a fitness session. Phone or e-mail me if you're keen on joining us (plus its FREE!).


Don't forget to walkout then stretch out those stiff muscles after a hard night at Burpengary!

Hey guys!

well it seems official! TORRENTS it is!

And here is the definition from wikipedia ... it does fit quite well actually :)

A torrent generally signifies a strong flow of something, especially fluids and particles, and in particular water or rain.

So see you all Friday! 5:50pm at the bus stop.

UQ Sponsorship

So guys... we need to come up with a plan to get UQ's involvement in our team, aka sponsorship!

I guess the ideal, would be to get UQ to recognise us as a team, and maybe that way they will give us some funding, which could help us get to comps etc.

If anyone has ideas as to how we could approach UQ sport to ask about this please post your ideas!

Blue Crew, True Blues, Spirit Blue

Anyway, I like the idea of Voyagers, since we're surrounded by water... like sailors hehehe

Revised uniform!

hey guys i realised the uniform did look like it was missing a stripe down the bottom, so i fixed that and heres the new version. i sent it to Sanford today, so i hope its not too late to get the stripe added ha ha

as for names... i don't mind UQ TITANS

i looked on the UQ sport site and all the teams seem to just go under the title of UQ. Except the rugby team which is the "Red Heavies", or something like that...but i don't suggest we copy that one ha ha

so yeah everyone post those name ideas!

And it means we can do so much with the idea not stick to one symbol/object and it could be applicable to guys/girls and lots of sports teams not just our cheerleading. It’s a pride call! And it’s phonetically easy to yell, chant and all those things. Blue also rhymes well! You want something that rhymes!
